About Flatwood Foundry
We built a masterclass that feels like a trusted studio notebook—focused, warm, and rigorously practical.
Our Story
Flatwood Foundry started as a sketch circle between brand designers who loved proofing ideas on paper before vectors. We turned those evening sessions into a complete curriculum, grounding each lesson in honest constraints that real clients bring.
Mission
We help designers craft marks that age gracefully. You’ll learn reduction, letterform care, and the choreography that ties a logo to the rest of the identity.
Principles
- Care for counters and negative space.
- Reduce bravely; reveal the essence.
- Test marks small, large, and in motion.
- Let critique clarify intent, not inflate ego.
- Measure consistency with humane grids.
Lead Instructor — Rowan Hale
Brand systems specialist. Believes every strong logo can hum at 16 pixels and sing at 16 feet.
Curriculum Designer — Mina Clarke
Turns complex methods into stepwise drills. Loves ligatures and honest alignment.
Resident Critic — Theo Muir
Guides feedback rituals that help marks mature without losing their soul.
